Sweet Indian Curry and Fresh Young Coconut ice cream = amazing.
Law school is great, New York is great, my apartment is great, coconut-curry ice cream is great. I can’t think of a single reasonable thing to complain about at the moment but I’m sure I’ll eventually think of something.
Oh, I have like 8 zillion pages of reading. I guess I can complain about that. But then I go to a rooftop dance party in Williamsburg, sipping too-strong drink concoctions made by good friends while admiring the Manhattan skyline and, I don’t know, maybe it’s OK.
I’ve definitely had a few “WTF NYC” moments and, holy mother of god, I do have a lot of reading, but in general life here is really good. Contrary to cinematic depictions of law school, my professors all seem very nice and my classmates are friendly and helpful.
As for New Yorkers, I think it’s a side effect of city life that one is forced to interact with strangers on an extremely regular basis which gives people many opportunities to be both rude and kind to each other. Most often, people have been very kind.
Walking down Broadway at rush hour really is awful. Walking past Washington Square park at noon really is lovely. There really are rats in the subway and the roaches here really are as big as cats. It really does smell. It really is vibrant and beautiful and inspiring.
Anyway, Studies in Contract Law: Sixth Edition is calling to me from my bookshelf. Be good to yourselves.
